Aligning Policy Engagement with Net Zero
Event description
Aligning policy engagement with net zero in Asia Pacific Climate Week
What role can non-state actors play?
We need to rapidly cut emissions if we are going to achieve net zero. This year, we must enable the groundswell of voluntary action from non-state actors to turn into the ground rules for a just and resilient net-zero economy. In the Global South, moving to implementation can only happen through providing the right policy incentives for non-state actors, and closing existing policy gaps.
During this first event of its kind in Asia-Pacific Climate Week, Race to Zero, We Mean Business Coalition, InfluenceMap and the Climate Group/ Under2 Coalition, will explore how non-state actors can mobilise net zero aligned policy and regulation through their policy engagement. The event will open with a keynote from Ulka Kelkar, Executive Director of Climate at World Resources Institute India.
In breakout discussion rooms, we will explore the challenges and benefits of supporting net zero aligned ground-rules in the Asia-Pacific region, and how climate ground-rules can:
- Level the playing field for non-state actors;
- Create an enabling environment in key sectors;
- Unlock private sector investment; and
- Creating a smooth path for climate innovation and transferral of technical assistance.
With its influential position as Chair of the G20, we will hone in on how Indian non-state actors in particular, can lead on net zero aligned policy engagement.
If you are a leading business, financial institution, city state or region, or policy leader, this webinar is for you.
