All Day Everyday Sustainable Fashion Workshop
Event description
This workshop explores how sustainable fashion can enhance everyday life by aligning with research on clothing design and functionality. For instance, garments with practical features, such as pockets, simplify daily routines by allowing people to carry essentials without the need for a bag. Research shows that clothing designed with thoughtful, functional details becomes a cherished part of people's wardrobes and is worn more frequently.
In this interactive workshop, participants will rethink the traditional care label and create a speculative label for denim jeans, focusing on how the garment 'cares' for the wearer. Examples may include the minimal washing required for denim or its adaptability across different social settings. This creative exercise encourages participants to consider how fashion can be designed to better support daily activities and improve overall quality of life.
The outcomes of this workshop will contribute to ongoing research on sustainable fashion within the School of Fashion and Textiles at RMIT University.
