Description

TL;DR: The Summer '26 season of our weekly drop-in All In Song Circle is June 24 + July 29-August 29, before our Joyful Voices Chorus community choir starts up on September 16. The amazing Guest Songleader Lyndsey Scott joins Marv on August 12th! Try it once FREE (except 8/12) if you've never sung with Marv leading the circle or choir before! Click the orange Get Tickets button to reserve your seat.

Do you love to sing? While you're driving, on a walk, or in the shower? Then this drop-in song circle is for you! Our All In Song Circle is:

  • So easy to join in and sing because singing experience is never needed, all songs are taught by ear, there's no music to read, and you never have to have attended a previous evening.

  • Non-auditioned, non-performative, and anti-perfectionistic.

  • Welcoming, accepting, and inclusive, especially if you're nervous about sharing your voice.

  • It's a space where we all make it possible for anyone to join in and feel alive, connected, well held, and uplifted. It's the spirit of... All In.

  • And it's SO. MUCH FUN.

So...what kinds of songs do we sing?

  • Led by Marv Zauderer (see bio below), we sing contemporary, non-religious, community-singing songs -- unison songs, chants, rounds, layer songs, and 2-, 3-, and 4-part harmony songs.

  • Marv teaches the most amazing songs by the most amazing community songwriters worldwide! Songs are selected for their ability to rejuvenate, soothe, uplift and inspire. Like this one, this one, and this one!

  • Feel free to check out our YouTube channel or our website for videos and audio of us singing together, and our Song Library, which has every song we've ever sung, with links to original recordings when available.

And this season, we will be graced by a visit from one of our very favorites, Guest Songleader Lyndsey Scott -- all the way from Iowa! -- on August 12th!

Lyndsey is a multimedia artist, songleader, and ritualist committed to exploring community singing as a technology of belonging.  As the co-leader of Earthkeeper Wisdom School, she serves the revitalization of soul-nourishing culture through A Year in Ceremony, an intensive 10-month apprenticeship in sacred spacing holding. As a songcatcher, she records singalong earworms that spark collective liberation. Over/Under, her collaboration with incarcerated musician Tony Rhodd, transmits the path of grief-as-activism to dream a world beyond prison.  Lyndsey weaves village and tends her garden in Iowa City, USA. Find her music & more at <www.lyndseyscott.earth>

And you can hear some of our favorite Lyndsey songs here, here, here, here, and here.

Here are some of the comments from singers in past seasons of the All In Song Circle:

  • "The most joy I've felt all year!"

  • "The love and connection and magic in the room last night filled my spirit. Our voices were amazing!"

  • "Marv has an easy upbeat teaching style that enables quick grasp of the words and melodies. Good vibe with everyone. Simple but engaging songs."

  • "I left feeling so nurtured by the wonderful camaraderie we all had with each other, and by your way of teaching us these heartfelt and loving songs that are filled with positivity and hope!"

  • "Thank you for reawakening the love of singing in me."

  • "I loved it, can't wait for more!"

FAQs

  • I've never sung in public before. Should I still check this out?

Yes please! I can totally understand if you're feeling nervous about it. We have many first-time singers, and we all co-create a safe, non-judgmental, anti-perfectionistic space with the freedom to allow our voices to emerge and blend just as they are.

  • How good of a singer do I need to be?

You don't! We welcome everyone who wants to sing, period! All the songs we sing are easy to learn, and in the case of songs that have multiple parts (eg. low, middle, high), you always have the opportunity to choose which part you'll sing. And there's always no pressure or perfectionism about our singing.

  • Do I have to attend every week?

Nope! The All In Song Circle is always drop-in.

  • What are the differences between the song circle and your community choir?

Like the song circle, in choir we do learn a bunch of songs that we learn in 5-15 minutes (harmony songs, layer songs, rounds, unison songs, call-and-echo songs, etc.)

However, with a consistent group in the choir, we're able to learn parts of juicier songs over 2-3 successive evenings. So juicy!

And, with a consistent group we develop a deeper feeling of community with each other.

I also post Practice Tracks of our core songs in choir, so you can practice between evenings (although no pressure to do so).

With the choir, week 7 is our open-to-anyone Big Sing where we teach a couple of the songs that we've been working on to the entire crowd, and then a rockstar Guest Songleader takes us the rest of the way.

And finally, after the season is over, there's a special (free) Marv Thanks You song circle at my house, just for choir members, where I provide drinks and goodies and we sing together -- choir members are welcome to teach a song, too! It's always a special evening.

  • Where can I see/hear examples of the songs you sing?

Examples of quick-to-learn songs: Example 1, Example 2, Example 3.

You can also check out our YouTube channel for videos and our Song Library with a list of all the songs we've ever sung in my groups, with links to recordings when available.

  • How does the try-it-FREE work?

If you haven't sung with me before, you can try it free, once, except on nights when we have a Guest Songleader.
