Allendale Native & Habitat Plants Visit
Event description
Visit to a permaculture property & native plant nursery at Allendale with opportunity to buy plants
Verena and Tony have been at their 5-acre Allendale property for 23 years. She runs Allendale Native & Habitat Plants and has a special interest in native edibles and using natives for windbreaks.
Verena has used a permaculture design approach in dealing with challenges such as the strong Easterly winds, poor soil (very hard to break up) & a part of the property that floods several times a year. Some ideas have worked; others have struggled.
The morning will consist of a walking tour of the farm (approx 1 hour) then a discussion on native plants, including edibles, as we tour the nursery (1 hr).
Plants will be available for sale at the end of the morning.
Please note:
Sturdy walking shoes & clothing suitable for outdoors. Hats & sunglasses. Not suitable for wheelchairs
