Warrenheip Community Permablitz - May 2025
Event description
Come along and help rejuvenate an existing garden area in this community centre that will be used to engage young people in the garden with a focus on introducing them to basic food production, and the ability to grow their own food.
This Blitz will focus on rejuvenating an existing garden area and jobs will include:
- Improving paths and accessibility of garden beds
- Building a couple of new beds out of sleepers
- Clearing and weeding beds
- Setting up a basic watering system for the beds
- Repairing and reoiling the existing garden fencing
- Preparing and planting appropriate perennial climbers and shrubs around the exterior
Ballarat Permaculture Guild has a long-standing relationship with Uniting, with them letting us use their Dyte Parade Building for our meetings and courses lets support them to support others. The Permablitz is at Tabor House a Youth Residential Withdrawal Unit that provides a 10 -14 day residential program for young people up to the age of 25 years run by Uniting.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided by the host, so registration is essential for catering purposes. Please register a FREE ticket for each attendee and advise any dietary requirements.
What to bring:
- gardening gloves
- sun gear (hat, sunscreen, long sleeved shirt etc)
- covered shoes
- water bottle
