MEET the SPEAKERS - A great lineup not to be missed!

Hala Batainah

Hala Batainah (BA-TIE-NAH) has held senior executive roles in the Information Technology industry and is the Chair of the Canberra Innovation Network, an organisation creating impact for Canberra by accelerating start-ups, innovation and entrepreneurship.

In 2018, Hala launched her coaching and consulting businesses to focus on her passion for people, leadership and innovation and her commitment to making an impact for a better tomorrow. She is the lead Principal Coach at Humanosity, a coaching practice focused on supporting leaders and teams who want to be human-centred in their personal and professional leadership. She was named WICked Woman of the Year (twice) by the Women in Information and Communication (WIC) for contributing to the IT industry and mentoring women in IT. Hala is originally from Jordan and loves calling Canberra home.

Kishwar Rahman

Kishwar Rahman GAICD is the CEO and founder of KR Digital. Kishwar Rahman has a background in law and fine arts and currently runs her own business assisting clients with their Digital Transformation and ICT capability acquisition projects. KR Digital specialises in using design thinking to deliver complex procurement solutions, undertaking policy analysis and ensuring digital products and services comply with legal requirements. Her career has spanned across both the APS and private sector tier 1 organisations. Of Bangladeshi - decent, Kishwar is passionate about advocating for change in the community and workplaces so that girls and women can participate safely and flourish.

Xiaoyan Lu

Xiaoyan Lu is the Executive Director of System Assurance and Data Analytics Group at the Australian National Audit Office. She has extensive leadership experience in using data and technology to drive business outcomes. In 2020, Xiaoyan was awarded an Australian Day Achievement Medallion in recognition of her leadership in transforming the delivery of audit outcomes through data analytics. The award also recognized her mentoring, and her dedication to innovation and excellence. Prior to joining the ANAO, Xiaoyan worked at the Australian Sports Commission for 11 years, leading initiatives on data driven decision making in the sport sector and delivering a national community sport research agenda. Before joining the public sector, Xiaoyan had worked in the academic and private sector as a research consultant. Xiaoyan has a Bachelor’s degree in science, and Master degrees in Environmental Science and Applied Statistics respectively. Xiaoyan is an immigrant who came to Australia at the age of 25. Today, she is a mentor who regularly helps others find passion to realise their career potential. Jas Kaur

Jas Kaur is a distinguished Leadership and holistic life coach known for driving transformative digital transformations and Business Agility. With exceptional coaching and management skills, she effectively bridges the gap between technology integration and business objectives, fostering trust and authenticity for remarkable transformations. As a people and customer-centric leader with over 18 years of diverse experience in performance, cultural leadership, strategic change, and enterprise agility, her passion is to catalyse change, enable performance & cultural turnaround making a positive difference in individuals, teams, and organizations. Her focus on holistic growth and dedication to creating a better society are at the core of approach.

Faye Liu

Faye helps individuals and teams perform at their best, especially when it comes to complex policy problems. She coaches, facilitates and supports teams into higher performance through stronger problem solving, clearer products and deeper team coherence. For over a decade, Faye has used her skills in projects and taskforces in the Australian Public Service in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. Prior to this she worked in the private sector, running her own consultancy and with various professional services firms. She lives in Canberra with her camera-loving husband, two beautiful children and two rogue fluffy dogs.

Dr Safiya Okai-Ugbaje

Safiya is an information systems and educational technologies researcher with special interest in the ICT4D domain, and very passionate about the sustainable adoption and implementation of emerging technologies. She is often interested in the big picture – finding the common ground between different aspects and how they can work together harmoniously for the greater good. Safiya is a Lecturer at the ANU School of Cybernetics and Convener of the Building Cyber-Physical Systems
course.

Nu Nu Win

Nu Nu is an Assistant Secretary at the Department of Treasury on leave from the APS as a Sir Roland Wilson PhD Scholar. She has a broad range of experience across tax policy, legislation, and macroeconomic modelling. Nu Nu also previously led the BHP’s macroeconomic team in Singapore and worked in the World Bank’s macroeconomic modelling team in Washington DC. Nu Nu is passionate about diversity and inclusion and creating a public service that truly reflects the Australian community it serves.

Associate Professor Lubna Alam

Dr Lubna Alam is an Associate Professor with over 19 years of experience in research, teaching, and engagement. Central to her research is a focus on emerging, often disruptive, digital technologies (e.g., social media, crowdsourcing, mobile technologies, AI) and their impact on individuals, organisations and industries, with a particular focus on future of work. Prior to Deakin, Lubna has worked at University of Canberra as Assistant Professor. Lubna is also Founder and President of ALO Enlightened Women, a volunteer non-profit organisation aiming to help women reach their full potential through advocacy, training, social justice, gender equity and women’s empowerment. Lubna has been Finalist for WIC’s ‘Wicked Women of the year’ award for 2022 for her contribution to ICT profession and Finalist for the ABC Radio Canberra Multicultural Champion award in 2022 for migrant women’s empowerment and underrepresentation. She is the recipient of Telstra Changemaker award 2022. Lubna is also the treasurer of ACPHIS (Australian Council for Professors and Heads of Information Systems), the peak body IS professors in Australia.
