Far South Film presents: Alphabet Lane

What begins as a joke slowly unravels into something far stranger in Alphabet Lane, a darkly funny and quietly unsettling debut from writer-director James Litchfield. When a young couple—played by Tilda Cobham-Hervey and Nicholas Denton—move to the country and invent imaginary neighbours to ease their isolation, the line between fiction and reality begins to blur in unexpected ways.

Premiering at the Melbourne International Film Festival, this inventive indie thriller is at once eerie, playful and oddly romantic—an offbeat exploration of loneliness, creativity and connection. Featuring a distinctive score by Mark Bradshaw and filmed in the haunting landscapes of the NSW Monaro region, Alphabet Lane is a must-see for lovers of bold, original Australian cinema.

The screening is presented by Far South Film and will be followed by Q&A with Director James Litchfield and Producer Lucinda Reynolds.

James Litchfield – Writer/Director

James is a writer and director from Cooma, NSW. A graduate of Melbourne’s VCA, he has also trained at L’Ecole Philippe Gaulier. His short films are known for their quiet humour and sense of mystery, and he is currently developing feature projects with Joe Films. He is also an EP on The Northern Run, a rodeo documentary for the ABC.

Lucinda Reynolds – Producer

Lucinda began her career in theatre before moving into film and television. She has worked with Screen Australia, Made Up Stories and Amazon Studios, contributing to projects including The Dry and The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. She is currently developing new work through Joe Films.
