    Altered Tides: Custodians of our ocean

    Hosted by Griffith University and Gecko Environment Council
    A SWELL Fringe event @SWELL Sculpture Festival

    One dusky evening during SWELL an epic combo of surfers, artists and environmentalists will take over the SWELL Fringe Pavilion, for conversations about being authentic custodians of our ocean and creative solutions in a changing climate.

    Time | 6.00pm – 8.00pm (6.00pm arrival for a 6.30pm start) 
    What | A casual evening by the beach, with a stellar panel of ocean goers, advocates, scientists and artists, audience interaction and film screening
    Where | Fringe Pavilion, Wallace Nicoll Park, Currumbin Beach
    Cost | FREE (just drop in or register)

    Are you an ocean lover, beach goer, fisher, diver, or board rider? The ocean, surf and beaches are somewhere we love, part of our identity and how we live, whatever our style of recreation. Altered Tides - a panel and film event - reflects on these relations, our custodianship with the ocean and some of the creative solutions we can explore in a changing climate.

    Altered Tides: Creative coastal recreation in a climate changed future events are a partnership between Griffith University, Gecko Environment Council and SWELL Sculpture Festival, supported by Griffith's Climate Action Beacon. In 2023 the Altered Tides team are collaborating with Surfers for Climate and Surfrider Foundation.  Altered Tides is part of a broader series of events at SWELL and elsewhere under the banner of 'Creative Solutions' which seek creative thinking and/or creative arts to foster innovation in climate action.
