Join Dr Lani Roy Founding AMAPP Board Member and Amineh Curmi who is a Deaf Psychology Student for a 2x hour Auslan interpreted webinar focusing on psychedelic assisted psychotherapy, science and harm reduction for the Deaf community. This webinar is inclusive of consumers and professionals.
This webinar will provide an overview of the field of psychedelic science in Australia, AMAPP mission and values, current research, and harm reduction for Deaf people navigating the mental health system and psychedelics.
We will have a mix of education and community discussion to explore your questions.
Amineh Curmi
Amineh is a third year university student doing a Bachelor of Psychology focusing on trauma and trauma within the Deaf community. She has currently spent 10 years researching mental health as well as obtaining various of certificates in psychology including a diploma in health and human behaviour. In the last four years, Amineh has taken a dive into the psychedelic realm, through various experiences with plant medicines she holds a balanced and insightful position. More recently she has been researching how the benefit of psychedelics can help the Deaf community and how she can apply this through her years of research and personal experience.
Amineh hopes to raise awareness on harm reduction on psychdelics and break the stigmatism on how psychdelics can enhance an individual’s mental health within the Deaf community. Amineh is also a regular member of the Australian psychedelic community and supporter of AMAPP mission and values.
Dr Lani Roy
Dr Alana (Lani) Roy, Founder of The Signs of Life Psychology, is a psychologist, social worker, and therapist with extensive experience in mental health, suicide prevention, trauma, sexual abuse, family violence, the disability sector and the Auslan Deaf community. Lani provides Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy (PAP) for clients accessing ketamine treatment in Australia and is actively engaged in research trials focusing on psilocybin and Ayahuasca. Specialising in complex trauma, disabilities, and dual diagnosis, Lani provides therapy in Auslan sign language for the Deaf community. She provides a range of educational and group-based psychedelic programs and is a board-approved psychology supervisor. Lani coordinates the psychedelic and plant medicine Mental Health Professional Network (MHPN) and has taught on Australian psychedelic programs. Currently, Lani is apprenticing under Saj Ravi from The Psychedelic Somatic Institute of Psychotherapy in America for cannabis and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. .
She is passionate about connecting with professionals and community members who have integrity, creativity, and innovation; people who can uphold the sacred nature of these medicines as we bring them safely into the clinical context. Most importantly; she is a mother of two young boys, an owner of two beautiful high-needs French bulldogs, and a wife of a sexual abuse detective.
