This event is being co-hosted by Michaela Sangl and Sarah Freear
Michaela is one of Aotearoa's most experienced children's yoga teachers. Since 2012, she has taught children's and family yoga around Auckland - at studios, schools and preschools, for organisations including Save the Children, and at festivals such as Womad, Wanderlust, Prana and the International Yoga Festival. She has shared yoga with children at Ronald McDonald House every week since 2017 (zooming during the pandemic!). Since 2015, Michaela has facilitated Professional Development workshops for ECEs around New Zealand and in 2019, she launched her Teacher Training for Children to Teens Yoga, a 50-hour Certification programme. Michaela is a level 4 senior teacher registered with Yoga New Zealand and also loves teaching her regular adult yoga flow classes! More info: www.yogikids.co.nz/about
Sarah is a passionate yoga instructor and life-long learner, teaching in various locations on Auckland’s North Shore. After 20 years of practicing yoga, Sarah gained her qualification to teach yoga to children and teenagers with Michaela of Yogi Kids in 2023. She went on to become a Yoga Alliance 300hr+ qualified teacher, specialising in trauma-informed yoga, Yoga Nidra, yoga for disabilities, and chair yoga, alongside teaching regular vinyasa and hatha flow classes to adults. Outside of yoga, Sarah works as a Therapy Assistant for Health NZ, helping children recover from injury or trauma — experience she brings into her fun and supportive approach with young students. During term time, she runs after-school yoga programmes for children on Friday afternoons.
