Ambi Subramaniam Indian Violin Workshop - World Music Cafe Collaborations
Event description
World Music Café will present a special workshop event with touring Indian violinist Ambi Subramaniam, on Sunday 28 July 2024, 2pm-4pm at the Hillview Intercultural Community Centre in Bentley.
Crowned "the new king of Indian violin" by The Times of India and “India’s Itzhak Perlman” by Ozy Magazine, Ambi Subramaniam was trained by his father and guru Dr. L. Subramaniam since he was very young and gave his first performance at the age of seven.
He has received multiple distinguished Indian awards and recognitions including the Ritz Icon of the Year Award and two Global Indian Music Awards.
Along with his sister Bindu Subramaniam, Ambi runs SaPa – the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts, which teaches Indian music online to over 30,000 students across the world. He co-hosts the SaPa Show on Sankara TV, that is broadcast to millions of viewers.
He is instrumental in developing the SaPa Violin Method, and co-wrote India’s first series of textbooks dedicated specifically to teaching the Indian violin.
This World Music Café workshop is a one-off opportunity to intimately experience directly one of Indian’s finest violin musicians.
