Economics, Migration and Australia's Future Prosperity

Following the inaugural Building Bridges Between Academia and Public Service seminar featuring Peter Shergold, AC, Padma Raman, PSM and Professor Andrew Jakubowicz, our next seminar will explore the economic dimensions of multicultural Australia.

Australia's future prosperity will be shaped by how effectively we harness the talents, skills, entrepreneurship and participation of one of the most diverse populations in the world.

At a time of demographic, technological and geopolitical change, alongside workforce shortages, housing pressures and increasing misinformation surrounding migration and multiculturalism, evidence-based discussion has never been more important.

This seminar brings together leading researchers, policymakers and practitioners to examine the relationship between migration, economic participation, entrepreneurship, housing, productivity and social inclusion, and what these issues mean for Australia's long-term economic future.

Key Questions

Is migration helping or hindering Australia's economy?
What does the evidence tell us about population growth and housing affordability?
How important is migrant entrepreneurship to Australia's future prosperity?
Can Australia sustain economic growth without migration?
What role does social inclusion play in productivity and workforce participation?
How should we respond to misinformation about migration and multiculturalism?

This seminar will be held online. Registered attendees will receive the access link via email shortly before the event.
