Description

Ever wondered what it actually takes to become a marine biologist?

Join AMSA NSW for Science & Sips, an evening of networking, career insights, and good company at the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel (Bridge View Room), rounding off June Pride Month by enjoying a fabulous drag queen performance by Mynx Moscato!

Whether you're a student considering a future in marine science, an Honours or PhD student exploring career pathways, an Early Career Scientist looking for tips and tricks, or simply curious about life as a marine professional, this event is your chance to connect directly with experts working across the sector.

Hear from established marine scientists representing a range of career paths, including academia, museums, government agencies, environmental management, and research organisations. Our guest speakers will share their journeys, discuss the realities of working in marine science, and offer practical advice for building a career in the field.

Following a series of short presentations, you'll have the opportunity to participate in a relaxed "speed networking" session, rotating between tables hosted by different professionals. Ask questions, gain insights, and have the conversations that don't happen in a lecture theatre.

To make the evening even more memorable, the fabulous Mynx Moscato will be your MC, bringing energy, entertainment, and a special performance to the event.

📢 Confirmed speakers: Clayton Mead (Stantec), Dr Jadranka Nappi (UNSW), Kate Akkerman (DCCEEW), Sam Johnson (Nature NSW), Dr Claire Rowe (Australian Museum), Dr Kate Dodds (Corporate Carbon).
