AMSA WA is proud to announce that we will once again be holding our annual Student Workshop on Rottnest Island! 

This event is specifically for students, organised by students!


                                                          EVENT DETAILS

Day one and two are students only - run by the AMSA WA Student Representatives

Day one entails ice-breakers, as well as skills workshops and activities.

The informal “student only” sessions on day two provide an opportunity for all students to share their research in the form of 3 or 15-minute talks, hear from their peers at other universities, exchange ideas and receive friendly feedback (as well as prizes for the Best Talks) ~ THERE ARE NOW A LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS FOR STUDENTS TO ATTEND THE STUDENT TALKS DAY ONLY ~ Come join the group, share your research with the group, and enjoy the day! 

On the last day, be inspired and discover the diverse career journeys of senior researchers and industry professionals, including an opportunity to network. ~ THERE ARE NOW A LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS FOR STUDENTS TO ATTEND THE GUEST SPEAKERS DAY ONLY ~ Come join the group, share your work, and enjoy the day! 

Event timings for Day Tickets will likely be from 8:30 am - 4:00pm both days, but may change due to unscheduled to ferry timetable changes. 

* FULL EVENT Tickets include

  • 2 nights' accommodation, including bedding and towels, at Governors Circle on Rottnest Island
  • One BBQ dinner
  • Two lunches (sandwiches, fruit) /breakfasts (tea, coffee, toast, cereal) 

* DAY Tickets include

  • Lunch (sandwiches, fruit), morning tea, tea /coffee
  • Inclusion in all of the relevant days activities 

All tickets exclude

  • Ferry to/from Rottnest Island
  • Full Event: One dinner, which will be held at the pub (Only applies to those with Full Event tickets)

There is a non-member ticket price for all ticket types. Alternatively, sign up as an AMSA member before purchasing your ticket to not only receive the discounted membership price but the opportunity to attend multiple AMSA events throughout the year, many for FREE

Full Event and Student Talk Tickets:

Student talk information (you will be given the option to edit/update this information before the event)

  • Preferred presentation style (15 or 3 minute)
  • Selection of session topic: 

                          - Fish, fish, fish!

                           - Aquatic Plants 

                           - Mammals, Reptiles and Birds

                           - Human Impacts

                           - Aquatic Habitats 

All Tickets:

Personal information 

  • Preferred full name, university affiliation, and degree
  • AMSA membership email (if relevant)
  • Personal mobile number and preferred contact email
  • Whether you agree to have your contact email included in the workshop program 
  • Emergency contact name, number, and your relationship to them
  • Food allergies

                               

                               INFORMATION REQUIRED AFTER TICKET PURCHASE 

 You will be prompted for this information by Humanitix upon purchase, but you can also update it later either by the Edit Order link in your ticket email, or by the link AMSA will send out prior to the event

Full Event and Student Talk Tickets:

  • Talk title and abstract (150 words max)
  • A 1:1 image of yourself to be included in the workshop program (you can opt-out simply by not sending an image)

Closer to the event date, AMSA will be in contact with additional event information.

*Please be aware tickets are non-refundable as spaces are limited, and the event is carefully catered for the number of students attending.
