About the design: Motifs in Ukrainian embroidery contain a code. Oberih is a protective motif, an amulet, believed to offer protection and good fortune. Protective motifs are being embroidered onto shirts for Ukraine’s defenders or onto small pieces that they carry on their person. This oberih hails from Volyn’ in north western Ukraine. In the masterclass, you will be taught to embroider it in the technique of hlad’, a counted satin stitch.

Our masterclass is kindly supported by Living and Learning Nillumbik in Eltham.

Places are limited to provide you with a more personal and enhanced experience. All materials required will be supplied.

Proceeds from the masterclass will further assist in the protection of Ukraine’s defenders. All funds raised will be donated to the provision of tactical medicine.
