Event description

Join us at Lakewood Library on October 8 to celebrate with Claribel A. Ortega for the next Witchlings book!

Claribel will have an author to author discussion with one of our local favorites, Nyasha Williams. (Read more about both of their books below.) After the author talk, it's your turn to ask the questions! Craft stations and signing to follow.

ABOUT WITCHLINGS - HOUSE OF ELEPHANTS by Claribel A. Ortega:

From New York Times bestselling and award-winning author Claribel A. Ortega: The third book in the spellbinding Witchlings series!

It's been months since the end of the Golden Frog Games, and a cure for the hex that turned young witches to stone still hasn't been found. Seven and Thorn want nothing more than to find a way to heal their friends, but everything they try ends in failure.

When the Black Moon Ceremony arrives earlier than expected, Seven and Thorn take it as a chance to welcome any new Spares into their coven. But rather than welcoming a few Spares like they thought, all the witchlings in the ceremony are chosen to enter the Spare coven!

The new Spares are met with anger from the Hill Society. They create more unfair laws that ban Spares from using magic and being equals in Twelve Towns society! On top of all that, Spares start disappearing. And no one seems to care.

As Seven and Thorn struggle to find a cure for the stone hex and to stop the Twelve Town’s unfair treatment of Spares once and for all, they discover a piece of hidden history that will change everything—if they can get anyone to listen to them.

ABOUT SATURDAY MAGIC by Nyasha Williams:

An ode to the family, friendship, and the beautiful tradition of Hoodoo practice, this book celebrates the magic and symbolism to be found in every day, written by bestselling author Nyasha Williams.

Dayo practices Hoodoo with her family. One Saturday, she wakes from an interesting dream about a yellow bird. What could it mean? She knows that it’s up to her to figure it out. Over the course of the day, as Dayo and her family move through their daily rituals (mantras and affirmations included), the message sent from her Ancestors through her dream reveals itself. This celebration of spirituality (and heritage) highlights the rich history of Hoodoo and the beauty we can find in everyday magic.
