An Enchanting Evening: Practical Magic Movie Night Under the Stars

Event description

Join Us for a Magical Night!

There’s no better way to celebrate our favorite book and movie than with a party—and goodness knows the Owens ladies love a good soirée!

Enter the captivating world of Practical Magic for an evening of enchantment under the stars. This event transcends a typical movie night, offering a celebration of magic, mystery, and the timeless charm of female camaraderie. More importantly, it's an opportunity to revel in joy and embrace the idea that normality is not a virtue but a sign of lacking courage. Whether you come with your dearest friends or venture out solo, this evening is dedicated to fostering friendship and camaraderie among women.

We are thrilled to invite you to our first-ever outdoor movie night experience. As we gather together in our peaceful forest setting, surrounded by twinkling lights and the comforting sounds of nature, we'll transport ourselves into a world of magic and wonder.

Based on the popular novel by Alice Hoffman, Practical Magic is a story about two sisters who come from a long line of witches but struggle to find their place in the modern world. Through love, sisterhood, and a little bit of magic, they learn to embrace their unique powers and overcome any obstacle that comes their way.

But this event is not just about watching a movie under the stars; it's about immersing yourself in the enchantment and joy that comes with embracing nature and community.

Get Ready to Transform into Your Favorite Characters

Channel the Aunts: Embrace agelessness and quirky elegance with vintage attire and a sprinkle of magical flair.

Dress as your Favorite Character: Whether you want to don the bad-boy look as Jimmy, work the good cop angle as Gary Hallet, or showcase your individuality, the choice is yours. Ladies, feel free to embrace your inner "slut" because we all know, in this family, being a slut is not a crime! Take inspiration from nieces Gillian (Nicole Kidman) and Sally (Sandra Bullock) are decked out in head-to-toe ‘90s velvet slip mini dresses and floral maxi skirts.

Witchy Attire: Everyone has a little witch inside them, so you likely have something in your closet that’s perfect for this party. A flowy dress, a black top, or some scarves can help you craft a bohemian, witch-inspired outfit.

Magical Evening Activities

  • Decorate Your Witch Hat: Unleash your creativity by designing a witch hat that not only stands out in spellcasting but also in style.
  • Herbal Tea Station: Inspired by the Owens women's affinity for botanicals, enjoy a charming herbal tea station. Choose from a curated selection of special herbal teas. Customize your brew with fresh herbs, dehydrated fruit slices, or edible flowers for a personal touch.
  • Midnight Margaritas: No Practical Magic Soiree is complete without the legendary Midnight Margaritas... we'll be offering delightful non-alcoholic versions throughout the evening.
  • Manifestation Ritual: Borrowing a page from the movie's playbook, we'll introduce a touch of authentic magic into our evening. Equipped with parchment and pens, write down your deepest desires, channeling your intentions onto paper. Following the example of the Owens sisters, we'll release our wishes into the fire, watching as they twist and rise into the night, carrying our dreams into the cosmos.
  • Create a Group Spell Book: Contribute to our collective tome by bringing a cherished recipe, a prayer, or words of wisdom to paste or jot down, enriching our shared repository of magic.
  • Pre-Show Practical Magic Trivia: Test your knowledge of the film with a trivia session, complete with prizes for the winners.
  • Tasty Treats Inspired by the Movie: Chocolate cake is an excellent choice at any time, not just for breakfast. If you enjoy baking or cooking, consider bringing a treat to share. Are you inspired by cactus pancakes? Or perhaps chocolate death watch beetles? Alternatively, you might lean towards botanical cupcakes or cookies, as a nod to the story's incredible gardens. Why not try little black cat cookies or spell book petit fours? Let your imagination run wild in the kitchen!
  • Of course other surprises are in store…..
