Event description

An Evening of Ambient Improvisations with

Jeff Oster, Vin Downes & Tom Eaton

The St. Luke Community Connection Concert Series continues on Sunday, September 29th, 2024 with a very special evening of sound exploration featuring Vin Downes (electric guitar), and Grammy nominees Jeff Oster (flugelhorn) and Tom Eaton (keyboards & bass).

Known for their solo explorations of Innovative Music, this trio comes to the Community Connection Concert Series fresh off the release of Seven Conversations. The music on this album was crafted in the studio in real-time by veteran players Oster, Downes & Eaton - a process that will continue on September 29th, 2024 within the remarkable sanctuary of St Luke UMC in Bryn Mawr. Each with a deep history of creating expressive and emotional masterworks, here they join talents to further their excursions into New Age sonic moods and instrumental territories.

A shimmering blend of Oster’s evocative flugelhorn, Downes’ dreamy electric guitar, and Eaton’s watercolor touch on keyboards & bass, their live sound is at times soft and emotional, then driving and propulsive, but always exploring the Ambient realm in a searching, beautiful improvisational style.

This event will also present the work of video artist Neil Cippon, who will generate projections of original, ever-evolving graphics on the interior features of the St Luke sanctuary space - all in time with the improvised live musical expressions of Oster, Downes & Eaton.

This performance will begin at 7:00PM (doors open at 6:30PM) within the remarkable church sanctuary at St Luke UMC, 568 Montgomery Avenue in Bryn Mawr, PA (free off-street parking available). Tickets/Donations are between $10 and $20 (please contribute according to your own circumstances).
