An Evening Soirée
Description
An Evening Soirée
Join us for an evening of beautiful music as flautist Helen Lowe and pianist Peter Crane present an intimate program for flute and piano.
The evening will feature music by Beethoven, Mozart, Mel Bonis, Herman Beeftink, Ludovico Einaudi, Astor Piazzolla, Eugénie Rocherolle and Carl Stamitz, performed in an intimate house concert setting.
This concert also marks a special first, with Peter performing on the 1962 Marshall & Rose baby grand piano, recently fully restored by Brisbane Piano Technician Nathan Winterbine.
Helen graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, majoring in Flute and Baroque Flute, and later completed postgraduate studies in instrumental teaching. She has taught instrumental music for more than 30 years with Education Queensland and continues to teach, conduct and perform throughout Brisbane.
Alongside her teaching, Helen performs recitals and chamber music and directs the Mansfield High Wind Quintet. She performs on a Wm. S. Haynes solid gold flute with sterling silver keywork, an instrument that is very much her pride and joy.
Peter graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Sydney Teachers’ College as a Specialist High School Music Teacher, with a Diploma in Piano Performance. He also studied pipe organ and oboe.
His career has included directing the NSW State Music Camping Program, conducting massed choirs, orchestras and concert bands, and performing on the Sydney Opera House Grand Organ. Since moving to Queensland in 1989, his musical focus has been piano teaching and accompanying.
Peter and Helen have been musical partners for around eight years and share a great love of making music together.
