An Evening with Chuck Van Zyl in Concert

St. Luke Church 568 Montgomery Ave, Bryn Mawr, PA kicks off its 2024 series of "Community Connection" events on Sunday evening, April 21st, 2024, at 7:00PM with a performance by local Electronic Musician Chuck van Zyl.

Best known as the host of STAR'S END (WXPN's renowned radio program of Ambient dreamscapes), and as coordinator of The Gatherings (Philadelphia's premiere concert series of innovative music), Chuck van Zyl has also been making his own unique style of Electronic Music since 1983. More than merely carrying on the traditions of 1970s era Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Kraftwerk, and Brian Eno he sees creativity as a component of his own spirituality. Musical realizations by Chuck van Zyl evoke a sense of discovery, with each concert marking a new frontier of sound. The Sunday, April 21st solo show will showcase his trademark mastery of synthesized timbres and ethereal atmospheres. St. Luke’s sanctuary will provide a large, peaceful setting in which to savor each carefully sculpted tone. From the raw and power packed on down to the subtle and dulcet, this concert will recall the spirit of innovation and the charged sparks of an exploratory realm.

There will be two continuous 40-minute sets (w/intermission), heightened by large-scale video projections from Neil Cippon, plus a brief talk by Chuck van Zyl for newcomers to the genre.

This performance will begin at 7 PM (doors open at 6:30PM) within the remarkable church sanctuary at 568 Montgomery Avenue in Bryn Mawr, PA. Tickets/Donations are between $10 and $20 (please contribute according to your own circumstances). All proceeds from ticket/ donations will go to humanitarian causes via Humanitix, and/or compensation for the artist.
