Event description

AN EVENING WITH CRAIG SILVEY

'Find out who you are, and live that life.' Western Australian author Craig Silvey has charmed legions of readers with his Australian classic, Jasper Jones. And in the novel Honeybee, we encounter another tender and compassionate tale of a teenager trying to find their way in the world. It opens with the moment that 14-year-old Sam meets older man Vic on an overpass, contemplating a suicidal jump. Sam is facing pressure to ‘act like a man’ despite identifying as a girl and Vic has lost a furry companion; each is desperate and hurting in their own way.

Along with moderator Kaya Wilson, the acclaimed author of As Beautiful As Any Other, please join us for a moving discussion about identity, friendship and family that is found through love, not blood.
