The World Lebanese Cultural Union (WLCU) of Sydney, in partnership with the WLCU Sydney Foundation, warmly invites you, along with your family and friends, to join us in celebrating a momentous literary milestone - "An Evening with Gibran." This exceptional gala event marks a century since the original publication of Kahlil Gibran's masterpiece, "The Prophet."
Immerse yourself in an enchanting tribute to the life and work of the world renowned, esteemed Lebanese American author. Through captivating performances and thought-provoking discussions, we aim to evoke the essence of Gibran's profound insights and enduring wisdom.
Our event promises a delightful culinary experience with a meticulously crafted four-course menu that reflects the life's journey of Gibran - from Lebanon to Boston, then Paris and New York before finishing with a fifth course of coffee and Lebanese sweets. We will also be supplementing the drinks menu with Lebanese wine and Arak (Gibran’s favourite) as well as the outstanding Callington Mill whiskey. The evening will be adorned with traditional touches that transport you to the heart of the heritage that inspired Gibran's writings. You will hear from experts on Gibran that will talk about his life as well as literary experts on both his English and Arabic books. We will be joined by the Patron of The Kahlil Gibran Gallery – former Victorian Premier Steve Bracks AC – who will provide his insights on Gibran. You will also be entertained with a jazz band playing music from the key places that Gibran lived as well as other unique touches.  Â
Mark your calendar for a memorable evening that celebrates the legacy of Kahlil Gibran and his contributions to literature and culture.Â
