An Evening with Justice James Edelman AC

Join us for a special event with Justice James Edelman AC of the High Court of Australia, who will speak on the role of a judge and the process of adjudication, followed by an open Q&A with students.

Drawing on his experience as a Justice of the nation’s highest court, as well as a judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the Federal Court of Australia, and as a leading theorist in private law and constitutional principles, Justice Edelman will discuss how judges approach legal reasoning, decide hard cases, and understand their responsibilities within Australia’s constitutional system.

This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from a sitting High Court justice about judicial method, legal argument and the realities of judging, with plenty of time for your questions afterwards. All students interested in judicial method, legal principles and legal careers are warmly invited to attend.
