Kevin Jennings
Kevin Jennings is a globally respected leader in LGBTQ+ rights, education, law and philanthropy. He is currently CEO of Lambda Legal, America’s oldest legal advocacy organisation fighting for full legal equality for LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV, and previously served as Assistant Secretary of Education in the Obama Administration and CEO of the Arcus Foundation, then the world’s largest private funder of LGBTQ+ rights. While at the Arcus Foundation, he launched a Trans Funding Initiative which put $20 million into global trans work in 2015 which was the largest-ever investment in trans organizing at that time. In addition to being an advocate for LGBTQ+ people and everyone living with HIV, Kevin has been a particularly strong advocate for trans people as well as an exceptional fundraiser: under his leadership, Lambda Legal recently completed a historic US$285 million campaign, described as the largest single campaign to fight threats to LGBTQ+ liberty in history. Our outgoing CEO Em Scott met with Kevin during her Churchill Fellowship and found his insights on LGBTQ+ philanthropy, movement-building and fundraising incredibly valuable. Kevin also has a longstanding connection to Rainbow Giving Australia’s work: when he was CEO of the Arcus Foundation, Arcus provided the first seed funding for GiveOUT in 2016.
