Event description

Zenith Virago is a Deathwalker, EO & Founder of the Natural Death Care Centre (NDCC). Zenith is a maverick pioneer, long committed to cultural change in death. Now an elder with 30 years experience of working with the dying and the bereaved, she has a deep respect for people’s courage and capacity to do death well.

“Inside everyone is the courage and capacity needed to be easier with death and dying, we just have to wake it up, remember, become more familiar, and practice it everyday. My work is a holistic hybrid of old and new ways, accompanying those who are dying and their carers, walking with the suddenly bereaved, creating ceremonies that encourage people to really honour their loved ones."

Zenith will be here in Christchurch to run two Deathwalker Training Intensives in May. She has been persuaded to make one public appearance. This is a rare chance to spend an evening with her as she pauses to look back over her long career as a death guide and teacher. She will be sharing a mix of stories, insights and wisdom and there will be time to ask some of your own questions. This event is not just for people working in end of life care - it is a call to all of us who have family, friends and colleagues and wish to be better equipped to support each other at life's end.

My hope is you come away feeling provoked, empowered and more inspired about life, and (in Zenith's words): 'in love with the mystery we are all a part of.'
