    Event description

NZ Green Building Council – Green Star Certification

Priority One Members and non-members are welcome to this event.
Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

The New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) was founded in NZ in July 2005 and in 2006 became the sixth member of the World Green Building Council.

Created by the sector, they are Aotearoa's leading sustainable building not-for-profit and are passionate advocates for better buildings. There are now 70 green building councils around the world, representing over 36,000 members.

NZGBC are the certifiers for Green Star rated buildings. With three developments in the Priority One Tauranga CBD Blueprint registered to be 6-star rated Green Star buildings; including Tauranga City Council’s new office building at 90 Devonport Road, headed by developers Willis Bond, which is set to be the largest mass timber office building in New Zealand and will target a net zero carbon footprint for the building’s construction process; this is a first in the history of Tauranga to have buildings constructed to this level. For more information on the build, see the latest media release:New Zealand’s largest mass timber office building set to be built in Tauranga’s city centre.

Join us to hear from NZGBC’s technical coordinator and Tauranga's local connect, James Woods, to gain a better understanding of what it means to develop a Green Star building and the process required to achieve this. Also joining us will be Warren and Mahoney's architectural designer, Jeremy Opie, a key member of the team for the 90 Devonport Road project new build, who will discuss its design progress. Based in the Tauranga studio Jeremy is excited to be a part of this pioneering mass timber and keen to share his knowledge on the Green Star rated build.
