An introduction to Intarsia knitting technique
Description
Learn the basics of the Instarsia technique to create your own knitted designs in this hands-on workshop
The workshop coincides with the Liz Newman Knitwear - Back to the Future exhibition at FABRIK during SALA in August 2026.
Experienced members of the Handknitters Guild of SA will show you the basic Instarsia technique. After that you will move on to having a go.
This includes choosing from a selection of Liz Newman designs on graph paper and beginning a knitted square or swatch using knitting bobbins.
The knitted square may be used for a number of projects when completed. For example, a potholder or a pocket for a pullover or vest.
By the end of the session, you will have gained the confidence and skills to use this technique, as part of their knitting practice.
