Anal August: A Booty Pleasure Class for Everyone

Ready for the queer sex ed we never got in school? This month’s workshop is dedicated solely to the booty! Wondering if anal can actually feel good? How prostate-focused play is similar and different? Curious about how to navigate cleanliness, potential for pain, and overall awkwardness that can happen with anal sex? This class if for you!

When it comes to butt stuff, the phrase "no pain no gain" couldn't be further from the truth. As sex educator Jay likes to say, it’s important for your “butt and your brain to be on the same page.” This class is designed to help you take the guesswork and pressure out of anal play and build the confidence, communication skills, and practical techniques you can actually use.

Jay brings their years of teaching and lived experience to bring you this workshop designed to help you turn your “asspirations” into reality! Participants will get a chance to:

• Learn what you need to know to prep mentally and physically for the play

• Discuss the wide range of options for booty play, including fingering, plugs, penetration with dildos and/or penises, rimming, and more

• Pass around the essential lubes, toys, and other tools that can be used for play and prep

• Review the anatomy and pleasure points of the butt for folks with and without prostates

• Talk techniques for starting, playing, and taking care of things after play

There is so much to learn, butt soooo much misinformation out there. Spoiler alert - booty play can & should be oh so pleasurable for any body! No question will be too anal (all puns intended!)

Meet your Educator!

Jay Sheffield (they/he) aka Sex.EdWithJay has been an educator for the past 5 years at Lotus Blooms, a health and education-based sex shop in Old Town, Alexandria that centers and celebrates queer and trans joy. Jay is passionate about helping visitors make informed decisions and feel more connected to their bodies and desires. Previously, Jay worked as a DC-licensed massage therapist practicing consent-based bodywork, with a sliding scale prioritizing QTBIPOC. Jay loves any excuse to dance, eat, drink, travel, and spend time with their queer community, their cat, Little Boop, and the ocean. 

What to expect from this workshop

Who is this workshop for?

Workshop tickets are sold individually and each person attending will need a ticket. You may attend solo or bring partner(s), date(s), or friend(s). This class is open to queers of all genders who are interested in butt stuff. No previous experience with anal play required, butt interest is necessary for consensual and pleasurable booty play and therefore, a class requirement!

Space logistics, accessibility, and vibe?

This space available is on the second floor of As You Are, accessible via one flight of stairs. Apologies if this makes the event inaccessible for you! Jay also teaches classes for Lotus Blooms on the ground level.

This is an educational and experiential class, but it is not a sexual class. The focus of the content will be on learning about anatomy, pleasure, techniques, props, toys, and getting in touch with your your desire! Participants will be able to opt in and out of any exercises or offerings!

You will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow attendees before the event starts, during intermission, and after the class if you wish, but the class itself is not a mixer. We encourage you to enjoy As You Are and come for a meal and/or drink (alcoholic and N/A options available) before or after the class! If you drink before the class, please just do so responsibly so that you can show up in a respectful, learning mindset! Doors open at 6:30. Class starts at 7 and technically ends at 9. Jay will be available till 9:30 for class-related questions. Come early! Stay late!

• Workshops generally run about 2 hours with a 15 minute break in the middle.
