Ancient NyungART

Immerse yourself in Nyungar culture by learning 2 ancient art forms of deep significance—spear throwing & painting symbols.

If you're looking to immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the Nyungar people, then Ancient NyungART is the workshop for you. Led by Chelsey Thomson of Yelakitj Moort Nyungar Association, this workshop will take you on a journey through two ancient art forms that hold deep significance for the Nyungar people.

First, you'll learn the ancient art of spear throwing—a skill that was crucial for survival in the harsh Australian outback. Chelsey will guide you through the practicals and techniques and share stories about the importance of this skill in Nyungar culture.

Next, you'll discover the art of painting symbols, another ancient tradition that has been passed down through generations. Chelsey will share the meaning behind each symbol and teach you the techniques needed to create your own unique piece of Nyungar art.
