Andrea Keller in Concert Workshop

In this special workshop presentation, Australian pianist and composer Andrea Keller demonstrates her approach to practicing improvisation and how she turns improvisational material into compositions and vehicles for further improvisatory explorations. Key areas of investigation are:

•                Free improvisation as a tool for creative learning

•                Concepts and starting points for improvisation and composition

•                Cultivating creativity in musicians at all stages

This workshop empowers teachers and students, whose predominant focus is on notated music, with strategies and resources to explore improvisation and the creation of original music. All instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome to attend. No prior experience in jazz or improvisation is required.
