Andrew Garton's Abbreviation Orchestra
Event description
ABOUT ABBREVIATIONS ORCHESTRA
The Abbreviations Orchestra is back!!! They return after a five year hiatus to present outrageous re-imaginings of the music of Mozart, Robert Johnson, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker and Bernie McGann plus a raft of original compositions. Building on the concepts developed by the great large ensemble jazz orchestrators of the twentieth century but shrinking the resources down to modern day (read: cheaper) dimensions, this group features intricate contrapuntal interplay and the solo-istic skills of some of the best improvising musicians around.
Band:
Andrew Garton - Alto Saxophone
Joshua Hatcher - Tenor Saxophone
Tristan Rogers - Trumpet
Brodie McAllister - Trombone
Bruce Woodward - Guitar
Nick Quigley - Bass
Nathan Goldman - Drums
