Three actors are thrown together to perform scenes at random from a controversial new play. What happens next will strain the limits of professional objectivity as their lived experiences blur with the violent narrative onstage. Shortlisted for the 2023 Griffin Award, Animal interrogates Australia’s crisis of masculinity in a feral fever dream.

    CONTENT WARNINGS

    Depictions of domestic and gender-based violence, animal abuse, bestiality, misandry and transphobia. Mentions of sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape, homophobia, incest, suicide, self-harm and paedophilia.

    We welcome all visitors to ESCAC and are committed to making it accessible and inclusive for everyone. The venue is wheelchair accessible, with accessible car spaces available out the front on Burton Street. We accept companion cards and welcome assistance animals.

    Bus: Oxford Street 2 minute walk (333, 373, 399, 392, 394 and M10 buses).
