Event description

Join us for a four-hour introduction workshop on animation with artist Mikayla Hotton. Learn how to make animated films using traditional methods of hand-made materials. Perfect for people of all ages who would like to look at new ways of creativity. A great way to explore concepts using new techniques, meet people and share ideas.

The workshop cost includes light catering. At time of booking, please include dietary needs. Dietary requirements cannot be fulfilled within 48 hours of workshop date.

No experience necessary just a passion for making.

Participants will need to bring own device (iPhone or Android) and enough space on device.

This workshop is for people over 18 years old.

About the artist/

Mikayla Hotton is a practicing artist specialising in animation, puppet and set builder and the founder of MikAnimate.

Mikayla has directed, written, produced and animated three major stop motion animation films. Mikayla has been trained in different forms of digital and traditional animation but is most interested to the practical hands on type of work involved in stop motion animation and puppet making. Mikayla meticulously sculpts all sets and props by hand and giving backgrounds a character of their own. Mikayla’s style of filmmaking can be described as innovative and captivating.

Mikayla holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Animation Degree at The Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and has since worked at Sharp FX, a Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s production an independent small films and projects.
