Anna Keeling: Ski hīkoi from Aoraki to the Paringa river
Event description
Another great collaboration from FF, Protect Our Winters NZ and Anna Keeling!
Local Canterbury mountain guide and POWNZ board member, Anna will talk about her ski hīkoi from Aoraki to the Paringa river via the Hooker range last October.
The Guides' Week Off - undertaken with Ruari Macfarlane and Troy Forsyth, provided Anna a challenge to her own self-doubt about keeping up with young male guides, while also providing respite from leading others in the mountains. She used most of her skills gleaned from 3+ decades of mountain adventure.
Come and share the yarn with an ageing (self described) mountain athlete. We’ll talk about risk and reward, body and soul and what it’s like to drop into previously unseen 45 degree plus ski runs with a transalpine pack.
All proceeds go to Protect Our Winters New Zealand. You can join the movement here.
