Event description

Join us in Melbourne to collaborate, network and shape the future of prevention.

We are thrilled to announce that the MCs for the night will be Tarang Chawla and our Prevention Sector Development Advisor Hannah Dwyer. Tarang Chawla is a keynote speaker, writer, broadcaster, and advocate, known for his work in ending men’s violence against women.

Do you have new or emerging ideas about what is needed to prevent family and gender-based violence? Do you have examples of work that you want to ‘pitch’ to an audience of your peers? This event is your chance to share those ideas and shape the conversation about primary prevention in Victoria.

Following the success of the PreventX 2024 in-person event, the Annual PiP Pitch event is back as a standalone event. Using the format and concept from the three minute-thesis competition, we are inviting you to submit a proposal for a three-minute pitch (in person or recorded) on what is needed to prevent family and gender-based violence in Australia right now.

We will select 8 to 10 of the most compelling pitches to showcase on the night, with a focus on hearing new and emerging ideas to help further promote messages and programs for change. This is an opportunity for you to influence current and future prevention messaging and work, thinking and delivery, to a statewide audience.

Want to Pitch?

Do you have a key idea or message that you think is needed to prevent family and gender-based violence in Australia? If so, we would love to hear from you.

How it works:

  1. Submit a short 200- 250-word maximum paragraph OR a three-minute (maximum) video outlining your idea here: https://airtable.com/appyiJLve9L27oHVl/pagDKi8nktzQBErjP/form
  2. Submit this by 28 February 2025.
  3. We will then review your proposal, and the 8-10 most compelling ideas will present their pitches live at the in-person event or via pre-recorded video.
  4. If you are selected, you can:  attend face-to-face in Melbourne to deliver your pitch (you will receive a complimentary ticket to attend); or submit your 3-minute pitch via a pre-recorded video of yourself or your team pitching the idea, which will be played at the in-person event.  Note that only a maximum of two people per pitch will be able to present either live or pre-recorded.
  5. The only supporting media presenters will be able to use on the day are three slides. If you decide to submit a pre-recorded video instead, this must be of yourself or your team pitching the idea. Graphically designed and professionally edited videos will not be accepted.
  6. All selected participants will be invited to attend the in-person event for free (no more than two per organisation).
  7. The audience will be able to vote on their top three pitches using Slido. Note: The annual Pitch event is about stepping up, bringing new and emerging ideas to the stage, an opportunity for practitioners to influence prevention messaging, and a way to celebrate the wonderful creative minds we have across the sector. While the audience will be voting, this is simply for fun and to engage with the audience.
