Anti-Poverty Week Community Forum in the ACT
Event description
With the ACT election campaign underway, the St Vincent de Paul Society Canberra/Goulburn and ACTCOSS are co-hosting a community forum during Anti-Poverty Week.
Representatives from ACT Greens (Minister Emma Davidson), ACT Labor (Deputy Chief Minister Yvette Berry), Independents for Canberra (Thomas Emerson), and Canberra Liberals (Deputy Speaker Mark Parton), will outline how their parties, if elected, plan to tackle poverty in the ACT amidst the growing impacts of the cost-of-living crisis, the housing affordability crisis, and climate crisis.
The event features a keynote address by Associate Professor Ben Phillips from the ANU Centre for Social Research and Methods, who will explore how poverty manifests in Canberra and what can be done to alleviate it.
The forum will be moderated to ensure a positive and constructive conversation.Â
