Join us from 5:30 pm for a 6:00 pm start on Wednesday, 26 August, for Antisemitic Discourse in the Media, presented by Dr Pamela Schulz OAM.

How does language shape public understanding? What role do headlines, framing and public discourse play in influencing attitudes towards Jewish people? In this thought-provoking presentation, Dr Pamela Schulz OAM explores the ways antisemitic narratives are created, circulated and normalised across traditional and digital media. Drawing on research in communications, discourse analysis and media studies, she examines how language influences public perception and considers practical, non-violent strategies for identifying and challenging harmful narratives while promoting informed, responsible public discussion.

The presentation will also examine the historical evolution of antisemitism, from its ancient origins to its contemporary manifestations, and consider how enduring stereotypes and recurring patterns of language continue to influence public discourse today. By combining historical context with contemporary analysis, the session provides audiences with practical tools for recognising manipulative rhetoric and understanding the importance of accurate, ethical communication. Following the presentation, Dr Schulz will be joined by a panel, including Dr Ghil'ad Zuckermann, for a moderated discussion and audience Q&A.

Dr Pamela Schulz OAM is a researcher, author and communications specialist whose work spans discourse analysis, criminology, judicial administration and public policy. Her research explores the relationship between language, media and public opinion, with a particular focus on how discourse shapes social attitudes and institutional responses. Through this presentation, Dr Schulz offers an evidence-informed perspective on combating antisemitism through education, ethical communication and responsible public discourse.
