Did you know that a Warrnambool artist is helping to build one of the world’s biggest artworks?
Dr Anton Hasell is renowned for making sonic sculptures - public artworks that are participatory and playful. You may have seen the Federation Bells at Birrarung Maar or sculptures in Ballarat, Darwin and Bendigo.
In recent years Anton’s been working on the Clock of the Long Now, a huge clock embedded in a mountain in Texas that will chime for 10,000 years.
Whether you're a visual artist, musician, writer, performer, maker, designer, filmmaker, creative producer, arts worker, part of a community arts group or a person who's interested in Warrnambool's stories, come and spend an evening with Anton and the creative community. Refreshments, amazing stories and nibbles will be provided!
Thanks to the Fletcher Jones Family Foundations, Regional Arts Victoria and Warrnambool City Council, this event is free to attend as part of the Creative Warrnambool strategic priorities.

Dr Anton Hassel
Anton Hasell is a professional artist whose studio research and experimental practice underpins his interactive and playful public-space artworks. He has taught in tertiary art schools and is an Adjunct Professor at RMIT University. Best known for the co-creation of the Federation Bells Carillon in Melbourne (www.federationbells.com.au), Anton recently completed the invention, casting and tuning of a musical set of ‘difference tone’ bells for the visionary Longnow Foundation’s 10,000 Year Clock project in Texas (www.longnow.org, & https://youtu.be/pKuJBGb_pN4 ) Anton’s practice as an artist, and as director of Australian Bell, a new-design bell-making company, explores resonant sound-forms, objects and architectures that help tune people into a site’s unique spatial ambience. His use of sophisticated digital design tools and modern manufacturing technology, in combination with a long experience in traditional craft technologies, has opened up new creative possibilities in the arts/craft/design field. This interest in technology underpins Anton’s productive collaborations with other artists, designers and scientists.
