Mismatched Jewish-American cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin) reunite for a journey through Poland to honour their grandmother, a Holocaust survivor who has recently passed away. What begins as a sentimental journey soon unravels as old family grudges and unresolved emotions resurface. Against the backdrop of Poland’s rich history, their road trip reveals deeper emotional wounds, forcing them to confront their fractured relationship and shared past.

Eisenberg and Culkin have never been better, delivering sharp, nuanced performances which capture the awkward humour and underlying pain of their complicated-yet-relatable family dynamic.
