Description

PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE EMBASSY OF MONGOLIA

The Wolves Always Come at Night is a critically acclaimed, visually stunning hybrid film from Australian documentarian Gabrielle Brady (Island of the Hungry Ghosts). The film follows a nomadic Mongolian couple, Davaa and Zaya, as their ancestral way of life in the desert is irrevocably shattered by a devastating dust storm, supercharged by the impacts of climate change. Faced with the heartbreaking loss of their livelihood and beloved animals, the couple makes the difficult decision to abandon their traditional home and relocate to the city with their four children.

Brady, who lived in Mongolia for years, crafts an intimate portrait of their turmoil as they struggle to adapt to urban life. The film blends observational documentary footage with recreated dream sequences, offering a powerful look at the profound trauma of ecological displacement and the enduring connection to a lost way of life.
