You're not alone. These are common phrases we can say to try and help our kids.

But it’s time to normalise children’s anxiety.

The Anxiety Coach Parenting Program is for parents and carers of children aged 4 -12 years.

The course is run in Mascot and promotes:

💥 Anti-fragile thinking skills and resilience in children.

💥 An understanding of how anxiety develops, and how to prevent it.

Commit to coming to Mascot over three Monday mornings and you'll emerge with more confidence to help your child manage difficult emotions.

South Eastern Community Connect (SECC) will be running the three-week program face to face at the following times. Lesson materials will be provided free of charge.

Session 1 - Monday 11th May (10am to 12pm)
Session 2 - Monday 18th May (10am to 12pm)
Session 3 - Monday 25th May (10am to 12pm)

The Anxiety Coach program promotes:

Theories and strategies discussed in this course are evidence-based, with research studies showing their effectiveness.

A FOCUS ON LOCUS OF CONTROL

Research studies over the last 20 years have shown the importance of Increasing Internality of Locus of Control.

Children who have a high external locus of control have higher rates of anxiety and depressive symptoms, and those that have a higher internal locus of control have a greater ability to manage adversity and stress.

Children can be supported to develop an internal locus of control with techniques for how to give children more control over their lives.

MANAGING ANXIETY

This workshop on anxiety is based on brain studies which focus on the role of the prefrontal middle cortex and the amygdala.

It allows parents and carers to understand where fear and anxiety originates, how children's minds work; and how they can get control over different parts of their brains.

By understanding the role of the amygdala as the child’s protector, teachers and parents can help children to manage their emotional reactions to adverse events.

These sessions, run by Ruming Yang, will equip you to assist your child in managing everyday anxieties. You won't want to miss this.
