Anything Goes is Big Gay Piano Bar’s musical theatre open mic night, where performers can bring along the song they actually want to sing.

That song you’ve been dying to perform? Bring it.

A huge eleven o’clock number? Absolutely.

Something obscure from a show nobody else in the room has heard of? We love that for you.

A classic Broadway belter, a contemporary favourite, a comedy number, a heartbreaking ballad or something completely unexpected? Anything goes.

Join John Milligan at the piano for a night celebrating Sydney’s musical theatre community, with a fabulous lineup of singers taking the stage alongside the usual spontaneous Big Gay Piano Bar request moments.

These community nights are all about giving performers a welcoming, low-pressure place to get up, try something out, meet other singers and share the songs they love, while audiences get a gloriously unpredictable night of musical theatre.

Come to perform, come to support your friends, or just grab a drink and enjoy the show.

We want to hear from you!

Performers of all experience levels are welcome, including professional performers, emerging artists, students, community performers and enthusiastic musical theatre lovers.

Choose a song from musical theatre, a song cycle, cabaret repertoire, or something that feels at home on a musical theatre stage.

Performance spots are selected by video submission. Send us a video of you singing so we can get a feel for your voice and performance style. It doesn’t need to be professionally filmed.
