Inspiring Australians' Breakfast with 2024 Australians of the Year
Event description
Is our Bronzed Aussie culture killing us?
Auspire - Australia Day Council WA in partnership with Cancer Council WA presents an Inspiring Australians' Breakfast with 2024 Australians of the Year, Professors Georgina Long AO and Richard Scolyer AO.
Please join us with emcee, 6PR's Oliver Peterson, to hear their story. As groundbreaking researchers at Melanoma Institute Australia, Georgina and Richard have dedicated their careers to saving lives from cancer, increasing the survival rate of those with advanced melanoma at five years from 5% to 50%.
But prevention is always better than cure. Every 30 minutes, an Australian is diagnosed with melanoma and it is the most common cancer in Australians aged 20-39, causing melanoma to be regarded as our national cancer. With 95% of melanoma caused by exposure to UV light, be inspired to better protect your skin from the sun, get your skin checks and become an advocate to encourage others to do the same.Â
It's time to change our identity of being a sunburnt nation.
Two-course breakfast is included. Attendees receive a complimentary bottle of We Are Feel Good Inc. sun lotion.
Dietary requirements can only be guaranteed for bookings made by Wednesday 21 August.
Table size is 10. A tax invoice is provided for tax purposes.
Please be advised this event will include photography.
