Appalachian Harvest Herb Hub Open House
Event description
The Appalachian Harvest Herb Hub is having an open house event! We are excited to welcome growers, harvesters, and anyone with an interest to come tour our facility. The event will be held on February 15th from 4-6pm at Appalachian Harvest in Duffield, VA. Kilgore's Korner, a local food truck, will be parked outside of Appalachian Harvest for the event. The event is FREE with the exception of food to be purchased at the attendees expense.
Since 2017 the Appalachian Harvest Herb Hub has made it our mission to be a valuable resource to farmers and growers across the region. We work with both beginning and experienced farmers to encourage plant conservation while still maintaining profitable cultivation. Some of the resources we provide include on site farm visits, production planning, workshops, and planting stock mini-grant opportunities for our farmers. The Herb Hub has tools and equipment to help growers process goods in an efficient way that ensures high quality products. Some equipment includes industrial scale driers, wash stations, grinders, and a variety of niche tools such as elderberry destemmers. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the facility to see this equipment in person. The Herb Hub has access to buyers who are willing to buy sustainably produced and processed herbs at a premium price. It is our goal to help connect farmers with sustainable growing operations to buyers who are willing to pay a premium for their herbs. Our current sign up sheet for 2023 producers is live now if you would like to participate in this season's market. 2023 Herb Hub Demand Link!
We look forward to answering questions, talking about herbs, showing off our facility, and enjoying good food! Please contact Shannon Joyce the Herb Hub Associate with any questions: sjoyce@asdevelop.org
