Applied Manual Therapy — 4. Lumbar Spine & Hip
Hands-On Learning for Therapists Who Want More
Session 4 of the Applied Manual Therapy series focuses on the lumbar spine and hip, covering the low back and hip presentations you'll recognise from clinical practice.
What You'll Learn
Postural Dysfunction & Chronic Low Back Pain: Learn to palpate and treat the muscle imbalance behind Lower Crossed Syndrome, tight hip flexors and lumbar extensors against weak glutes and abdominals. The latissimus dorsi's fascial connection into this region continues here from Session 2, and the hip flexor reasoning connects forward to the quadriceps work in Session 5.
Differentiating Posterior Pelvic Pain: Learn to palpate and differentiate the muscles behind sciatica, piriformis syndrome, and sacroiliac joint dysfunction, three presentations that feel different under your hands even when they look alike on the surface.
Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome: Learn to palpate and treat gluteus medius and minimus, sometimes called the rotator cuff of the hip, and build the technique skills for lateral hip pain that's too often written off as simple bursitis.
Clinical Reasoning: Build the skill of feeling, interpreting, deciding, and adapting, not just following protocols.
