Guest speakers
Susie Burrell
Susie Burrell is passionate about empowering people and teams, using science to help optimise their performance and wellbeing. She holds an Honours Degree in Psychology and a Masters of Coaching Psychology, and shares insights which businesses can apply to coaching and mentoring staff. Sue also holds an Honours Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics and has graced the screens as the resident dietitian on Channel 7’s Sunrise, enriching the lives of viewers with her practical and evidence-based advice.
Martin Taupau
Martin Taupau is a recently retired NRL legend with over 15 years’ experience playing at the highest level of sport. Having played 256 NRL Games and 35 representative test matches, he is a veteran of the league and knows a thing or two about mentoring the new players coming through. Off the field Martin is Co-Founder of two businesses, DSRUPTRS and Not Stationary. He shares his unique perspective about the lessons that businesses can learn from elite sport.
Billy Walters
Billy Walters is a current NRL player with the 2025 NRL Premiership winning Brisbane Broncos. Before signing his first NRL contract, Billy completed a carpentry apprenticeship, giving him lived experience of navigating workplace expectations, feedback, and the transition from learning to professional performance. In elite sport, Billy operates in a system where performance is reviewed regularly, feedback is direct, and accountability is non-negotiable. This mirrors many of the pressures faced by apprentices and employers, where progress depends on clear communication and trust.
