apres art: painting with wool

Tuesday, January 14th | 5 PM | Our Lady of the Snows | $10 |

In this class students will learn how to needle felt using a single felting needle and a variety of colorful wool fibers to create a 2D wool painting. Wool painting is done by pushing wool fibers into a flat piece of wool felt with a foam pad underneath. Students will learn how to blend wool colors and a number of techniques for forming desired shapes and textures with the wool. If you enjoy creating with repetitive motion and a medium that is easy to adjust and learn with, this class is for you! Students will leave with a 6x6 inch landscape wool painting of Mount Wolverine.

Amanda has lived in and out of Utah for 35 years and now resides in Sandy with her family. Always a lover of art and the outdoors, she spent many hours as a child in the woods behind her home drawing, painting, and creating. Amanda has dabbled in a wide variety of artistic mediums, always drawn to realism, nature, the stories of people, and the details of ordinary life. She discovered needle felting during a challenging season of my life. She found it a therapeutic and forgiving medium - easy to experiment with and providing many possibilities for color and texture. Amanda works to capture the wonder of creation and the beauty of ordinary things in our local environment through wool painting.

ACE aims to create an inclusive and accessible environment for all of our attendees; please contact our Executive Director, Sara Gibbs, with any questions regarding accessibility.
