Unruly Edges

Ellen Dahl, Emma Pinsent, Eduardo Wolfe-Alegria

In Unruly Edges, Ellen Dahl, Emma Pinsent and Eduardo Wolfe-Alegria have collaborated to create an imagined ecotone or contact zone, formed as the boundaries of their works dissolve and entangle, initiating new dialogues between their works in order to draw out previously unexplored or emergent ideas in their practices.

Class S2

Class S2, is the name of a pop-up classroom in gallery 2 for visitors to learn from and play with textiles and found objects. Led by exhibiting artist Kate Coyne alongside Bonnie Huang, Sehej Kaur Sehmbhi, Kaylee Rankin, Emma Harbridge and Keesha Catherine Field.

Cubbyhouse (Nothing is Certain, said the Curtain)

Ali Noble

What ideologies are subverted when curtains assert versatility, sensuality and movement in spaces typically defined by fixedness? What new spaces can we create? What of play? What of beauty? Cubbyhouse (Nothing is Certain, said the Curtain) merges the familiarity of Ali Noble’s existing textile-based practise, with the exploration of a new format, video.

Gallery 4

Why is my age important?

Kate Coyne

Kate Coyne's studio practice explores how experience can be embodied and the nature of the relationship between the body/experience and materiality in a socio-political feminist context. The language of materials and process enable an exploration of the nongendered body and vulnerability.

Firstdraft is open 11am–5pm Wednesday–Sunday.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which Firstdraft is built and operates.
