Aquele Abraço

The first edition of "Aquele Abraço" will be a vibrant cultural festival celebrating the essence of Brazil through music, connection, and community, inspired by the iconic song "Aquele Abraço" by Gilberto Gil. 

We'll be hosting some of the Sydney's best performers of Brazilian music and providing engaging activities for all ages. This is guaranteed to be a memorable experience for both Brazilian expatriates and local residents. The Aquele Abraço festival, set for September 7, 2024, at The Diddy in Lane Cove, promises an exhilarating celebration of Brazilian music with a rich and diverse lineup.

Samba de Moça, an all-female band, revitalizes the samba scene with a fresh take on the genre, showcasing the talent and creativity of the new generation of female samba artists. Beliza brings a unique fusion of MPB and soulful samba, known for her powerful vocals and emotive performances that blend Brazilian rhythms with a touch of soul.

Sergio Akueran offers a different flavor with his deep dive into regional Brazilian music and his own original compositions, all imbued with a distinctive "dendê" touch that highlights his unique style and authenticity.

Cria do Samba brings the essence of samba de raiz (roots samba), delivering a pure and heartfelt performance rooted in traditional Brazilian samba music.

The festival’s energy will be further fueled by DJ Lu Faria and DJ Dus, who will keep the dance floor alive with their vibrant electronic beats, while DJ Le Brown will add an eclectic mix of sounds to maintain high energy throughout the night.

Food and beverages will be provided by the amazing team at The Diddy. In addition to their regular food and drink menu, they will be offering a special BBQ plate as well as a couple of cocktail options to give you a taste of Brazil! Please note that there won't be any food stalls at this event.

We're presently finalising options for activities for children at the event. More information will be provided on this shortly.

Conditions of Entry

Entry

• All attendees are required to be in possession of a current, valid photo ID.
• The Longueville Sporting Club (aka “The Diddy”) has a strict sign-in policy for all guests. As such, sign-in to the venue is compulsory for all attendees.

Minors

• Guests under the age of 18 may only attend the event if accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
• Children up to 6 years old receive complimentary admission.
• A reduced-price ticket is available for children between the ages of 7 and 12.
• Parents/legal guardians must accept full responsibility for the safety and supervision of their children at all times. 

Changes to Event

• This will be an outdoor event. In the event of inclement weather, the decision may be made to postpone the event in the interest of safety. Should this occur, all ticket holders will be notified via email no less than 24 hours prior to the commencement of the event. An alternate date will be scheduled shortly thereafter and communicated to all ticket holders via email.
• While every attempt is made to present the program as advertised, the program is subject to change due to circumstances beyond the Organisers' control. Under these circumstances, the festival reserves the right to make changes without notice to the lineup whenever necessary.

Additional Conditions

• This is an outdoor event and a significant area will not be under cover. Please ensure you bring sunscreen, dress appropriately and stay hydrated. After sunset the temperature will likely drop significantly. We recommend you bring something warm so you can enjoy the whole event!
• Beverages are permitted on the green however no glassware is permitted on the grass. The venue will supply acrylic cups for beverages.
• It is strictly forbidden to bring alcoholic beverages, drugs or any illicit substances to the Event.
• The event producers are not responsible for any tickets purchased from companies and/or people that are not official sales channels and promoters of the event.
• The venue reserves the right to ask guests to leave if they are in breach of these conditions or any of the conditions of entry specific to The Diddy.
• Tickets are non-refundable.
