Arc Savers Workshop | Pumpkin Patching - Beginner Sewing Machine & Upcycling

Want to learn how to use a sewing machine and upcycle your own clothing and accessories? Join us for our Pumpkin Patching workshop, where you'll learn beginner-friendly sewing skills while transforming fabric scraps and unwanted materials into something creative and uniquely yours 🎃🪡.

Designed for complete beginners, this workshop requires no prior sewing or patchwork experience. AFS Executives will guide you through the fundamentals of sewing and patchwork step-by-step, helping you build practical skills that you can continue using long after the workshop.

You’ll learn:

🧵 Sewing Machine Basics: Learn how to safely operate a sewing machine, prepare fabric, and get comfortable with the essentials of machine sewing

📏 Beginner Sewing Techniques: Practise simple stitching, hemming, cutting and finishing techniques that can be used for future clothing repairs and creative projects

🪡 Patchwork & Upcycling Skills: Learn how to combine fabric scraps, patches and existing materials to refresh and personalise clothing and accessories

✂️ Creative Design: Experiment with different colours, textures and patterns to create something that reflects your personal style

👜 Take-home Project: Start or complete your own upcycling project and leave with both a finished creation and practical sewing skills you can use again in the future

⚠️ Important Info:

What to bring? Nothing required, all materials and equipment will be provided.

What to expect? Bring an old piece of clothing, accessory, or bag that you'd like to personalise and upcycle. Don't have anything suitable? No worries! We will provide plain tote bags and half-moon crossbody bags for you to use. Fabric, sewing machines, patches, and other materials will also be provided plus light refreshments will be provided during the workshop. 🍪🥤
